Excessive Flow Valves for Gas:  Effective February 1999 Gas Utilities are required to offer “Excessive Flow Valves” to their customers.  This valve is installed at the gas service line that is buried in the customer’s yard and will stop the flow of gas if the line is cut or if the meter is damaged. This valve is available if you the customer are willing to pay for the cost of the valve, installation and maintenance. If you are interested in an “Excessive Flow Valve” for your service line, contact City Hall.

Electrical Problems:  If you have outside electrical problems, call City Hall at 507-945-8127. Do not call Federated Rural Electric.

Building Permits:  Any new construction, including fences and decks, need a building permit. The City Council approves these permits at their meeting, if you have a project that requires a building permit, stop down to City Hall and get an application.

Burn Site:  If you take yard debris out to the burn site, DO NOT start a fire. The City Works Dept will take care of the burning. Remember that only sticks, leaves, etc. related to yard debris should be brought to the burn site. If you see someone dropping off tires, appliances or furniture, please let City Hall know who is doing it. These items are NOT allowed at the burn site.

City Park:  Please remember that our City Park is a TOBACCO FREE zone.

Dog License:  If you still have not stopped in and gotten your dog’s license for 2016, they are ONLY $2.00 and it helps the City keep track of whose dog is loose when they are seen running around town. We do have an ordinance that all dogs are to be licensed and on a leash or tie out at all times. If you see a dog running loose, you are supposed to call the Nobles County Sheriff’s Department at 507-295-5400 to report it. They have to see the dog running loose to be able to enforce our ordinance, so call right away.

This includes weeds by houses or garages. Keep your lawn looking nice and weed eat when you mow. It just makes the city look better.
