The next City Council Meeting & Hearing to Vacate a Portion of Railroad Ave will be held on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 at 6:15pm at City Hall.

Open City Council & Mayor Positions – The mayor position and two (2) city council member positions will be open, they are four (4) year terms. If you are interested in being a candidate on the ballot in November, the filing dates will begin Tuesday, August 2nd and end Tuesday, August 16th at 5:00pm. City Hall will be open on August 16th until 5:00pm to allow for the deadline. Filing fee is $2.00 and you MUST file at City Hall. REMINDER: Regular office hours for City Hall are 7:00am – Noon and 1:00 – 4:00pm.

State Primary Election – The State Primary Election is Tuesday, August 9th, 2016. Polls will be open from 7:00am – 8:00pm at City Hall. Put it on your To Do List and come vote!

Weeds & Long Grass – City Hall has been receiving complaints about the weeds and the height of the grass on some properties around town. PLEASE keep your yard neat and be considerate of your neighbors. Letters will be issued, if we receive multiple complaints about your yard. In accordance with the ordinance, if grass reaches 6’ and the City has to mow your lawn, there is a minimum charge of $55.00.

There will be no pork chops at the Legion in August.

Golf Cart Permit – The City has a new ordinance. If you are driving a golf cart on the city streets, you are REQUIRED to have a permit sticker. All golf carts must have a rearview mirror and you need to provide proof of insurance to get your sticker. The fee is $5.00 and you can get your sticker at City Hall.

Nobles County Recycling Shed – The red and white shed located behind the old United Prairie bank building is for extra recyclables. It is the same shed that was formerly by the Pit Stop and is provided to the City of Round Lake by Nobles County Environmental Services. If you have larger pieces of cardboard or boxes, this shed is a perfect spot for them.

Pit Stop Dumpsters – The Pit Stop is now privately owned and the dumpsters located outside are for the Pit Stop use ONLY. It is ILLEGAL to use someone else’s dumpster. IF YOU ARE A RESIDENT OR UTILITY CUSTOMER OF ROUND LAKE, THE DUMPSTERS LOCATED BY CITY HALL ARE FOR YOUR USE. If you need more room for garbage, feel free to use them. This privilege is for ROUND LAKE RESIDENTS or UTILITY CUSTOMERS ONLY.

Labor Day – Monday, September 5th is Labor Day and City Hall will be CLOSED that day.

City Burn Site – Please remember the burn site is for vegetation only! Sticks, branches, grass clippings, tree trimmings and leaves are the ONLY materials that are allowed at the burn site. If you witness someone putting anything else out there, please call City Hall right away to report it. We don’t want to lose our burn site and the DNR can shut it down if we are not compliant with their regulations. Respect the rules and only bring appropriate burn site materials out there!

Flushing Fire Hydrants – The City will be flushing fire hydrants on AUGUST 17th, 18th, and 19th. WARNING – Water may be rusty! Flushing in July was postponed, due to unforeseen circumstances.

Round Lake – Brewster School – There will be an Open House/Unpack Your Backpack night at the Brewster School on Wednesday, August 31st from 4:00-8:00pm! Go check out your classroom and see your locker.

First day of school is Tuesday, September 6th, 2016! Summer is going FAST!

Lost & Found – The City has a couple of sets of keys and a walkie-talkie that were found in town. If you are missing either of these items, stop down and see if they are yours.
