The meeting of the Board of Review was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 9:00am at City Hall. Council members present were: Walon Habben, Gary Larson, Dennis Bucholz, Court Baumgard and Mayor Doug Knuth. Others present were Val Ruesch (Nobles County Deputy Assessor), Terry Pigman (City’s Assessor), Marv Zylstra (Nobles County Commissioner) and Clerk Elaine Walker. Community members present were: Martin Waage, Don Doeden and Keith Tordsen.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Knuth at 9:03am.
Deputy County Assessor, Ruesch handed out Sales Reports and discussed with the council.
Martin Waage presented Board and Council with a question of why his land value increased and described how water stands on it. Current value is $1,800 for the parcel in question. After discussion, a motion was made by Larson to change the value to $1,400 and was seconded by Habben. All Ayes: Carried.
Don Doeden presented the Board and Council with a question of why his empty lot value increased another $300 from last year and his house value went up so much. The Council and Deputy County Assessor, Ruesch explained that everyone in Round Lake experienced the increase on valuation and after discussion, a motion was made by Larson and seconded by Baumgard to lower value of the lot to $3,500. All Ayes: Carried. A Motion was made by Larson and seconded by Habben to leave the value of the home as is. All Aye: Carried.
Keith Tordsen had questions about the second land parcel that he purchased from Viola Ling. Deputy County Assessor, Ruesch will have to check into that sale. She couldn’t give him an answer at that time.
There was no increase or decrease on agricultural land.
A Motion was made by Baumgard and seconded by Bucholz to set the value of agricultural land at $6,500. All Ayes: Carried.
Motion by Habben, second by Baumgard to adjourn the meeting. All Ayes: Carried.
