2017 February Newsletter

The City Council: The next City Council meeting will be on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at 5:30pm for employee performance reviews & regular meeting to follow at 6:15pm at City Hall.

Having Problems? If it’s a water/sewer/electric problem, call Bruce Bentele 507-360-5660. If it’s a Natural Gas problem, call Derek Nelson 507-360-3096 or call City Hall 507-945-8127 and leave a message if not during business hours.

Extra Recycling? Behind the old bank there is a red and white shed that customers of the City utilities can use for free! Please don’t use the dumpster, as that belongs to the company that is renting the bank. Large cardboard boxes and other recyclables that don’t fit in your own container can be placed in the shed at any time. There are containers up by City Hall that are for any extra garbage or recyclables if they are small in size. Larger items should go to the shed by the bank, please!!! Thank you for your attention to this section.

New Water Rates: Notice to all customers – water rates have increased from $8.32 to $8.49 for 2017.

Round Lake Fire Department: We are in need of more volunteers to be a part of the Fire Department. If this is something that you feel would be a good fit for you, please call or stop in to City Hall for more details. 507-945-8127.

2017 Dog License: Are now due! Please stop down to City Hall and pay the $2.00 per dog to satisfy your responsibility as part of the Round Lake community. Bring proof of rabies shot so we can have it on file for your dog. It’s in our ordinances that all dogs need to be licensed and on a LEASH AT ALL TIMES!!!! Thank you. City Hall has received reports of dogs running loose, please tie them when you put them out! It’s our City policy.

SNOW REMOVAL REMINDER! City ordinance states “no vehicles or other items are to be parked on the street during snowfall, until AFTER snow removal is done”. PLEASE honor this ordinance! Having vehicles parked on the street makes it dangerous for the plow drivers and risks damage to your vehicles. Do NOT push or blow snow onto your neighbor’s property, it’s disrespectful and they don’t appreciate it. City Ordinance states that you are not to blow snow into City streets either. Clear snow around mailboxes to make it easier to deliver the mail, we all need to work together to make the winter months better for all of us! Only 53 days until spring! Thank you in advance!

American Red Cross Bloodmobile: The Red Cross Bloodmobile would like to thank those who donated in January. They had a goal of 35 and received a total of 32 for the day. The demand for blood is never ending, plan to donate the next time they are in Round Lake, if you are able.

City Hall Resources: We now have copies of the Nobles County Crier available free. Pick one up when you pay your utility bill this month.

Gentle Reminder: If it is during business hours, PLEASE don’t put your payment in the door, stop in and hand it to me at the counter. I have earlier hours to accommodate our residents and would be happy to process your payment for you while you wait. The drop box is there for your convenience when the office is closed. City Hall is open 7:00am – Noon and 1:00pm – 4:00pm Monday thru Friday for your convenience. Also, I would appreciate having the bottom stub returned with your payment. It really helps me record your payment more accurately. Thanks!
