June 2010 City Newsletter

The next council meeting will be held on Wednesday June 9, 2010 at 6:15 p.m. at City Hall.

Budgets for NATURAL GAS ONLY will be starting this month.

The city has always had a utility disconnection policy for non-payment and it will be strictly ENFORCED.

PLEASE take your sump pump hose out of your sewer and put it outside.

The State of Minnesota requires us to charge $6.36 once a year to everyone that has a water connection.  The fee collected is a water testing fee and it is sent to the State.

This is the time of the year for storms and tornados.  One should be alert to warnings and watches as posted on TV and radio.  The local Fire Department does send “spotters” out during storms and the fire whistle may be blown to warn people.  However, there is always time to take precautions after you hear the whistle so please be aware of weather conditions as they intensify.

Nobles County Law Enforcement will blow the Tornado Siren on our local water tower ANYTIME there is a warning in the COUNTY.

If you have outside electric line problems at your property, please call City Hall.  DO NOT call Federated Rural Electric.

If you take burnables out to the burn site, DO NOT start a fire.  The city guys will take care of the burn site.

THE BURN SITE IS FOR BURNABLES ONLY to the city residents!!!  If you see anyone throwing out anything else like appliances, furniture, tires, etc.  PLEASE let City Hall know who is doing it.  Your help will keep the burn site open.  It would be much appreciated!!!

Reminder any resident doing any new construction, removal or repair work (that includes putting up a fence and building a deck) MUST get a Building Permit.  The Council APPROVES THIS PERMIT at their meeting so you MUST have one filled out before the meeting.

If you are planning to build or landscape your property (including planting trees and driving stakes in the ground), you MUST call “Gopher State One Call” before you begin.  Call 811 or 1-800-252-1166.  When notified in advance by Gopher State, Round Lake Utilities will stake the location of your underground utilities.

ALL DOGS MUST BE LICENSED BY THE CITY OF ROUND LAKE.

PLEASE don’t let your dog dirty up the park—after all—the entire park is for children to play in.  Also don’t let your dog dirty on other people’s property when you are walking your dog.  They don’t appreciate it!!!

Reminder the City Park is a TOBACCO FREE facility.

The pop wagon is for POP CANS ONLY!  Please do not throw recyclables and/or garbage in the wagon.
