May 2015 City News

The next council meeting will be held on Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 6:15 p.m. at City Hall

Board of Review will be Monday May 18, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.

PLEASE GET YOUR DOG LICENSE.  THEY WERE DUE JANUARY 1, 2015.

Monday May 25th City Hall will be closed for the day to observe Memorial Day.

PLEASE READ—the city has always had a utility disconnection policy for non-payment and it will be enforced so you must pay your utilities in full every month to avoid disconnection.

Budgets for GAS ONLY will be starting in June.  The Budget Plan will be from June to next April.  The Budget Plan is paying equal monthly payments.  If you have been on the Budget Plan in the past year, you will automatically be set up again, unless we hear from you.  If you are interested in getting on the budget plan, call City Hall right away.

The Fire Department is in need of more volunteers to join the Department.  If interested, stop or call City Hall or talk to a volunteer on the Fire Department.

The City of Round Lake has an ordinance regarding dogs.  It states no person shall keep any dog within the City without securing a license from the Clerk.  No dog shall be permitted to run at large within the City Limits – must be kept on a leash.  No person shall own, keep or harbor any dog which habitually barks or howls.  A dog causing a noise, disturbance or annoyance for a period of five (5) minutes is defined as a nuisance.  Anyone may contact the Sheriff’s Department and report these complaints.

PLEASE don’t let your dog dirty in the park—after all—the entire park is for children to play in.  Also don’t let your dog dirty on other people’s property when you are walking your dog.  They don’t appreciate it.  If your dog dirties, pick it up.

The city is receiving complaints regarding yards that have become cluttered and messy.  It would be appreciated if you could pick up those items that don’t look like grass or trees.

Remember any resident doing any new construction, removal or repair work (that includes putting up afence or car port) must get a building permit. The council approves this permit at their meeting so you must have one filled out before the meeting.

Reminder the City Park is a tobacco free facility.

The burn site is for burnables only!!  If you see anyone throwing out anything else like appliances, furniture, tires, etc. PLEASE let City Hall know who is doing it.  Your help will keep the burn site open.  It would be much appreciated it.

Nobles County Law Enforcement will blow the Tornado Siren on our local water tower anytime there is a warning in the COUNTY.

The Legion will be having a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday May 3rd – serving from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

There will be NO pork chops at the Legion in May.

Monday May 25th is Memorial Day.  There will be a program at the RL Legion starting at 10:30 a.m.

Update on RL Community Center—–Trophy cases have been relocated and we are looking for volunteers to help clean them.  The trophies will then be set up for display.  The Library cataloging is nearly complete and help placing library cards in them would be welcome.  Painting continues on outside library walls and two other rooms.  We would love to have volunteers help with any of these projects.  Work nights have been set up for May 6th and 7th beginning at 5:00 p.m.  You are always welcome to stop in and see what is being accomplished.
